Social acceptance & conservation measures on private lands

The Research Chair on Social Issues in Conservation (CESCO; Chaire de recherche sur les enjeux sociaux de la conservation) is a joint initiative of the MFFP (Ministère de la Forêt de la Faune et des Parcs Québec) and the QCBS.

The mandate of the Chair is to improve the theoretical and practical knowledge on social phenomenon (resistance, perception) regarding wildlife habitat conservation.

Socio-ecology in fisheries sciences (Canadian fisheries research network)

Fisheries sustainability is recognized to have four pillars: ecological, economic, social (including cultural) and institutional. The social, economic and institutional aspects (i.e., the “human dimensions”) have not been comprehensively and collectively addressed to date in fisheries sciences.

The NSERC Canadian Fisheries Research Network (CFRN) was a unique collaboration of academic researchers, the fishing industry, and government researchers and managers from across Canada. The Network includes over 30 academics from 15 universities working closely with representatives of fishing fleets from Canada’s Atlantic, Pacific and freshwater fisheries, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).  This partnership is industry-driven and built around projects that involve the active collaboration of each sector.
